Diary:

Packed up and left Homer. Therefore, the weather was perfectly sunny and clear today.

We drove all the way back to Anchorage, which didn't take that long. In Anchorage we did some last minute shopping for South America: Lots of film for Nico, more stuff from REI, and a new hotsync cable for the Palm Pilot (this one worked perfectly - arggggh).

We checked into the Morovia Guest House, where we would be staying the night, then headed back out of Anchorage to check out nearby Girdwood, 30 miles away. At Girdwood there was the Alyeska Hotel, a famous ski resort in the winter. We rode the cable car to the top of the mountain and climbed a little further to the top of one of the chairlifts. There was no snow at the top but still large patches of ice here and there. The view, as the sun set over the mountains, was fantastic.

We drove back to Anchorage and ate a fine dinner at the Glacier Brewhouse.
