Diary:

Had wonderful breakfast at the Restaurant Marganzo facing Baluarte de Nuestra Senora.

Then checked out of hotel and hit the road. Visited the nearby Fuerte de la San Jose (The Fort of San Jose) which overlooked the town, then headed towards Mérida.

When we got to Mérida, it sucked (hot and smelly), so we kept on going until we reached Piste, a tiny town whose only claim to fame seemed to be its close proximity to Chichén Itzá.

Stayed at Posada Chac-Mool the night. Whoa. Now that was a dive! Ate a good dinner at Las Mestizas. Then caught the 8pm sound and light show at the pyramid at Chichén Itzá, under the full moon... an unforgettable, primitive experience!
